Summer Camp
Each year Troop 543 will participate in a week long summer camp. We generally leave on a Sunday afternoon and return the following Saturday. This is a time the boys can meet boys from other troops and participate in things from swimming, archery, rifle shooting ,crafts, and other skills.
This year we will be going to Camp Birch the week of July 1-7. Cost is $235 per scout, however each boy will have the opportunity to raise money to pay for his own week of camp.
physical forms are due by June 1st

Weekly Meetings
Troop 543 meetings will be as follows;
1st Monday- committee meeting
2nd and 4th Monday- regular troop meeting
3rd Monday- Patrol leaders meeting
if there is a 5th Monday there will be no meeting
Parents are welcome to attend committee meetings, we can always use extra help with planning and other things.
If you are interested in being a part of the committee or a leader please let John know and he will get you an application.
Drop off and Pick up
Due to safety, each scout must be checked in and out of meetings. This means a parent, or other responsible adult must walk their son to the scout room and check in with the scoutmaster. The same goes for pick up, scouts are not permitted to leave until a parent sings them out. Sorry for any inconvenience.
DUES
Dues are $75 for the year for your son to participate.
This breaks down to $5 per month and $15 for recharter
These can be paid in one payment or in two payments
Dues are used for purchasing patches, such as merit badges and rank, and to recharter your scouts each year.

WELCOME
Welcome to Troop 543 We area so happy to have you in our Scout family
This is a wonderful group of boys and adults with the single goal of growing “boys into men”. Each year, the troop provides multiple activities and outings
that will allow your boy to explore, grow and develop. All the while, they will
be gaining confidence, experience and leadership skills that will last a lifetime
Boy scouts is organized different from Cub scouts. For most new scouts and adults, this comes as a “rude awakening”. Boy scouts is designed to be “boy led”
and you will hear that comment regularly. Unfortunately, as the boys are learning, there are times that “boy led” appears to be chaotic. We all try to make sure that doesn’t happen, but in reality, it does happen at times… and it is all part of the learning process. Please prepare yourself and your son for the reality that there will be times when it seems like things are not going as smoothly as possible. If adults were running everything, it would run smoother… but then, the boys would not be learning to coordinate and lead activities. The end result of the boys learning to be strong, confident leaders is a worthy goal.
Along the way, your support of your son will have a dramatic effect on their scouting career. Getting him to meetings and activities is critical. Also your participation in events/meetings greatly enhance their scouting experience. It is nearly impossible to take part in all the activities, but please try to commit to keep your son involved as often as possible. This will allow him the best opportunity to advance in rank and achieve the leadership skills necessary to continue their quest for Eagle.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions, all questions are important and if your thinking it, chances are so is someone else.
